A day after the Basel Carnival we would like you to meet the WCEU Wapuu for 2025. All dressed up for the occasion, wearing the costume of a Waggis—one of the most iconic figures of the Basel Carnival. The Waggis is a playful caricature of an Alsatian peasant from the 19th century, known for being a bit of a wanderer, a hard worker, and someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.
Basel: A city of contrasts—one moment, it’s a perfectly organised Swiss hub, the next? Pure chaos. Every March, Fasnacht brings masked figures, eerie lanterns, and drumming that may or may not be in sync. Fast-forward to June, and Basel hosts WordCamp Europe 2025.
