Hello both,
as you can imagine there are a lot of things to improve with many projects, so with XMPP. The development of the protocol and respective clients and servers is done by many passionate volunteers. If you want to do change you would need to engage yourself as many did before. That's what we offer to everyone.
It is also unlikely that the name itself is a big issue as many developers focus on developing products and services with this technology.

The XSF has started to offer fiscal hosting via #OpenCollective for #XMPP projects! This allows open source XMPP projects that cannot maintain own funding to effectively manage donations through-out the XSF.
